Magnitude 3.62 earthquake strikes near Alexandria, no casualties reported

A 3.62 magnitude earthquake hit roughly 189 kilometres southwest of Alexandria on Sunday, the Egyptian National Seismic Network (ENSN) reported.

Occurring 18.72 kilometers deep, the earthquake hit at 8:25am Cairo local time with the exact location of 29.8 degrees north and 28.84 degrees east.

The earthquake could not be felt and no casualties or property damage was reported, the ENSN asserted.

The last major earthquake hit the country in 1992, measuring 5.8 in magnitude, killing 541 people and injuring over 6,500 in Greater Cairo.
