According to the EMA, thunderclouds have multiplied over the eastern coast, canal cities, North Sinai, the eastern Nile Delta, Greater Cairo, and northern Upper Egypt, accompanied by moderate rainfall since Tuesday afternoon.

Greater Cairo has seen its share of heavy rain, thunder and hailstorms since early Tuesday morning.

Several streets in New Cairo have seen flooding that has caused traffic jams, and downtown Cairo has seen a rare hail storm. Both Giza and Cairo governorates have raised the degree of readiness to deal with flooding.

The Cairo Opera House, which is currently hosting the Festival of Arab Music, has announced that it is moving the even from the open theatre to its main hall.

Egypt’s Ministry of Irrigation said that it is ready to deal with the heavy rain.

The EMA did not issue a prediction for when the wave of unstable weather will end, but said it would issue statements throughout the day.
