Rain, strong winds forecast across Egypt over the weekend: EMA

Various areas across Egypt, including Greater Cairo, could see strong winds and light to moderate rain over the week end, according to a Wednesday weather report by the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

Chance of rain across the country do not exceed 50 percent, while the North Coast, northern Lower Egypt, and Halayeb and Shalateen cities in southeastern Egypt are expected to experience light to moderate rain on Thursday, which may turn into a thunderstorm.

On Friday, light to moderate rain is expected in southern Lower Egypt and Suez Canal cities. Light rain may also extend to Greater Cairo, said the EMA.

Moderate rain is expected in the North Coast, northern Lower Egypt, and Central Sinai on Friday.

The North Coast and northern Lower Egypt may experience light to moderate rain on Saturday.

The EMA expects warm weather in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, the northeastern coast, northern Upper Egypt, South Sinai, and southern Upper Egypt, and nice weather in the northwestern coast.

However, cool weather will prevail across the country at night, the EMA noted.

Starting Thursday through Tuesday, Greater Cairo and Lower Egypt will see highs of 21-23 degrees Celsius and lows of 15-17 degrees.  

The North Coast will experience highs of 20-22 degrees and lows of 14-16 degrees.

South Sinai will experience highs of 25-27 degrees and lows of 17-20 degrees.

Northern Upper Egypt will have highs of 22-24 degrees and lows of 11-12 degrees, whereas southern Upper Egypt will have highs of 26-29 degrees and lows of 15-17 degrees
