The Fair, which runs till 11 January, is organised by the Egyptian Ministry of Social Solidarity in cooperation with the Arab League.
In statements during the inauguration, El-Qabbaj asserted Egypt's keenness on hosting this fair to be a regional gathering for all creative producers and exhibitors willing to find outstanding marketing opportunities.
According to Qabbaj, 11 Arab States are participating in the exhibition which she described as an important opportunity to boost the sector of productive families, as well as Arab handicrafts and heritage industries.
She said that the fair is spread over an area of 4000 metres at El-Kobba Presidential Palace in Cairo, and that entry will be free of charge daily from 5 to 11 January from 10 am to 10 pm.
The Fair will act as a good prospect for the exchange of experiences between Arab countries in the field, to boost the exhibitors’ competitiveness in global markets, she added.
She pointed out that Egypt's organization of this fair is part of the State's efforts to enhance the economic empowerment means and to achieve the objectives of the UN for sustainable development 2030, especially those pertaining to empowering of women and breadwinners.
Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad, Minister of Culture Nivine El Kilani, Minister of Public Enterprises Mahmoud Esmat, Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel-Aal, Assistant Arab League Secretary General Haifa Abu Ghazala as well as social affairs ministers from Jordan, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Palestine, Sudan, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Oman and Somalia are participating.
The first edition of Bayt al-Arab Fair features Jordan as the guest of honour; Jordan is the head of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs.
