The last major snow fall on the mountains in the Sinai Peninsule came in January 2019.
In a weather update on Friday, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecast strong possibility of moderate rain continue in Egypt’s North Coast and northern Nile Delta until Thursday.
Matrouh and Alexandria governorates along the North Coast could also see heavy rain on Saturday.
Light to moderate rain will also be possible into the evening in Greater Cairo tomorrow.
Chilly temperatures accompanied by strong winds will prevail in much of the north of the country all week.
However, temperatures will be warmer in Upper Egypt and South Sinai.
Temperatures
Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta will see highs of 16-18 degrees Celsius and lows of 9-10 degrees from Saturday through Thursday.
The North Coast from Alexandria to Matrouh near the Libyan border will see highs in the mid-10s and lows of 11-12.
Weekdays will be pleasant in South Sinai and Upper Egypt.
South Sinai - home to Sharm El-Sheikh - will see highs in the lower 20s and lows in the lower 10s.
Upper Egypt - home to Luxor and Aswan - will see highs of 21-26 degrees and lows of 10-11 degrees.
Assiut and Minya - halfway between north and south - will see 18-19 degrees and lows of 6-7 degrees.
