At Lo7tak.com or “Your License plate.com,” an online bid for a single car license plate reached EGP 50 million after fierce competition between only two bidders.

The identity of the two bidders is still anonymous. The online auction will end on 28 March. The special car license plate has the following numbers and letters in Arabic " م ي ر 555" or “555 M E R.”

The news about the unique car license plate and its price went viral on Sunday as social media users, news websites and TV hosts wondered about the identity of the two bidders.

Launched in 2017 by the Ministry of Interior, Lo7tak.com in Arabic is the country’s only official online platform for the sale via auction of special car license plates.

The auction’s proceedings are directed to Tahya Misr Fund, which is responsible for promoting economic growth and reducing poverty.

According to previous statements by the Ministry of Interior, it has managed to collect over EGP 300 million from the sale of online special car license plates since its launch in 2017.

The most expensive car license plate previously sold in the auction was in April when a car license plate carrying the number in Arabic "ر ق م 1"  or “Number 1”  was sold for EGP 4 million.
