According to a press release by the EU delegation, the food boxes aid came as part of Misr El-Kheir Foundation’s  "Feeding the fasting" campaign.

As an act of solidarity with civil society groups working to support the most vulnerable people, EU Ambassador Christian Berger and the German Ambassador Frank Hartmann packed the boxes themselves among their staff and volunteers from the EU Delegation, the German Embassy in and the EIB.

Since the beginning of the year, the EU Delegation has donated 1,238 food boxes to Misr El-Kheir beneficiaries in Egypt's Qena, Menya, and Bani Sweif governorates.

Misr El-Kheir’s "Feeding The Fasting" campaign, which has been launched since 21 February and last till Ramadan’s end, also manages Ramadan tents across all governorates, offering both Iftar and Sohour meals.

In mid-March, Egyptian NGOs – through the National Alliance for Civil Development Work (NACDW) – launched the Shoulder-to-Shoulder initiative as the largest social protection initiative in the history of Egypt, with the aim of providing 20 million people with 6 million food boxes through the holy month of Ramadan.
