Egypt to see hot days and cool nights this week; light rain possible

Egypt will continue to see hot days and cool nights with chances of light rain in eastern and southern areas of the country as Egyptians have enjoyed the holidays of Eid Al-Fitr and Sinai Liberation Day this week.

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) said the weather will be cool nationwide during early morning hours but will tend to be hot during the day in Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta.

Alexandria, Matrouh and other North Coast governorates are expected to have warm weather during the day.

Hot temperatures will prevail during the day in South Sinai, home to Sharm El-Sheikh and northern Upper Egypt, including Beni Suef, Fayoum and Minya.

Qena, Luxor, Aswan and Sohag in southern Upper Egypt are expected to see extremely hot daytime temperatures, the EMA said.

On Sunday, light rain can be seen in the Gulf of Suez and southern Egypt and rain may turn into thundershowers in South Sinai and the Red Sea mountain ranges.

Light rain is also possible on Monday in the Red Sea mountains, the EMA added.

Starting Sunday and continuing through the week, Greater Cairo and the Nile Delta will see highs of 27–32 degrees Celsius, with lows ranging from 17–19 degrees.

The North Coast will see highs of 23–28 degrees and lows of 16–18 degrees.

South Sinai will experience highs of 30–33 degrees and lows of 19–21.

Meanwhile, northern Upper Egypt will see highs of 29–34 degrees and lows of 16–17 and southern Upper Egypt will see highs of 36–38 degrees and lows of 20-21 degrees.
