The EMA issued an urgent statement on Friday warning of occasional strong gusts of wind, reaching speeds of up to 61 km/h in northwestern Egypt. These gusts are accompanied by the stirring up of sand and dust, which may reach Cairo and the northern coastal regions.

The meteorological authority advises citizens to ensure the proper closure of windows and to wear masks when venturing outside to prevent the inhalation of dust particles, particularly for those with respiratory and sinus allergies.

On Friday, the weather remains hot in Greater Cairo, the Delta region, the northeastern coastal areas, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt. The northwestern coastal areas will experience mild warmth, while southern Upper Egypt will endure scorching temperatures.

The EMA said that starting from Saturday the weather temperature will drop by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius ending the heatwave that the country has been experiencing for days.

According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), moderate weather is expected in the morning, and hot weather during the day in Greater Cairo, the Delta region, the northeastern coastal areas, South Sinai, and northern Upper Egypt on Saturday.

It will be mildly warm in the northwestern coastal areas, extremely hot in Southern Upper Egypt, and slightly cool at night in northern regions, including Greater Cairo and northern Upper Egypt. The weather will be moderate in South Sinai and Southern Upper Egypt.

The EMA added that wind activity will continue in the coming days in some areas of the northwestern coastal regions, causing sand and dust to be stirred up intermittently in some areas of Greater Cairo, the Delta region, the western desert, the northeastern coastal areas, the canal cities, Sinai, northern parts of Red Sea Governorate, and southern parts of the country.

According to the EMA, the Greater Cairo area and the Nile Delta will witness an average from Friday to Wednesday highs of 29-30 degrees Celsius and lows of 15-17 degrees.

The North Coast will see highs of 22-24 degrees and lows of 15-16 degrees.

South Sinai – home to Nuweibaa and Sharm El-Sheikh on the Red Sea – will see highs of 30-34 degrees and lows of 20-22 degrees.

The Upper Egypt cities of Luxor and Aswan will see highs of 33-39 degrees and lows of 20-23 degrees..
