North Egypt will endure hot and humid conditions, while the south, including South Sinai, will be blasted with an extreme heat wave.

Inhabitants of the Greater Cairo area and the Nile Delta should brace themselves for humid days with moderately warm nights, with highs reaching 35-36 degrees Celsius.

Those lucky enough to be on the North Coast can look forward to milder temperatures during the day, hovering around a pleasant 30-32 degrees, accompanied by refreshing, cooler nights from Monday to Saturday.

However, the EMA is also warning of strong winds up to 50 kilometres per hour in the north on Monday.

These fierce winds will whip up towering 3.5 metre waves, along the Mediterranean coastline from Marsa Matrouh in the west to Port Said near the Suez Canal in the east.

Northern Upper Egypt will see highs of 37-40 degrees.

Meanwhile, residents of South Sinai and southern Upper Egypt should take extra precautions as scorching daytime temperatures will grip the region, peaking at an oppressive 41-44 degrees in southern Upper Egypt and 39-41 degrees Celsius in South Sinai.

Thankfully, the evening is expected to bring some respite with moderately hot temperatures.

Earth’s average temperature set a new record high on 6 July, the third such milestone in a week that already rated as the hottest on record and what one prominent scientist says could be the hottest in 120,000 years.
