Sisi & Sultan Saifuddin inaugurate renovated Al-Sayeda Nafisa Mosque

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Sultan Mufaddal Saifuddin, the leader of the Bohra community in India, inaugurated Al-Sayeda Nafisa Mosque on Tuesday after the completion of its renovation and restoration.

During his speech, President El-Sisi said Egypt is committed to developing the mausoleums of the Al-Bayt (Prophet Muhammad's family) and the surrounding areas in order to restore Historic Cairo.

El-Sisi expressed his appreciation to Sultan Saifuddin for helping to renovate and restore Islamic shrines in Cairo, including the Al-Sayeda Nafisa Mosque.

The president also highlighted the sultan’s role in renovating the Al-Hussein Mosque, which opened last year. 

On Monday, El-Sisi bestowed the Nile Sash on Saifuddin in appreciation for his ongoing support of cultural, charitable, and social causes in Egypt.

The Dawoodi Bohras are a religious denomination within the Ismaili branch of Shia Islam with their largest numbers residing in India, Pakistan, Yemen, East Africa, and the Middle East.

Sultan Saifuddin donated EGP 10 million to the Long Live Egypt (Tahya Misr) Fund between 2014 and 2018.

Sayeda Nafisa (145-208 Hijra) is the granddaughter of Imam Hassan, the son of Caliph Ali ibn Abi Taleb, and the great-granddaughter of Prophet Muhammad. 

She was bestowed with the honorific title Nafisat Al-Elm (“the possessor of precious knowledge”) for her spiritual and religious wisdom.
