Recently arrested Egyptian journalist Karim Asaad freed: Syndicate head
Egyptian journalist Karim Asaad, who was arrested early on Saturday, was freed today, Head of the Syndicate of Journalists Khaled El-Balshy said in a Facebook post.

This comes shortly after El-Balshy said he contacted the relevant authorities about the colleague, confirming that he would be home within hours.
El-Balshy has thanked those authorities for quickly responding to the syndicate’s demands to release the arrested journalist.
Asaad is an Egyptian journalist and a member of the editorial team of Matsada2sh, an Egyptian media and news company that verifies material posted online.
The syndicate has called for the release of all detained journalists, who total 23.
