3 killed, 5 injured in Cairo Hadaeq El-Qubbah building collapse. Al-Ahram
The victims residing in the four-storey building were all members of the same family, according to a source from Cairo's Civil Protection forces.
The deceased and the injured were transported to a hospital, while rescue teams continue to search for people trapped beneath the rubble.
The collapse of the building had severe consequences, causing a crack in the balcony of one of the adjacent houses.
The Public Prosecution has launched an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings from the investigation revealed that a removal decision for the building had been issued under the supervision of a consultant engineer.
However, the prosecution discovered that the decision had not been implemented. In response, the prosecution has ordered the governorate to prepare a comprehensive report detailing the underlying causes of the tragic incident.
In July, another building in Hadaeq El-Qubbah collapsed, resulting in the loss of 13 lives. Three more buildings collapsed in Alexandria and Beheira during the same month.
Many of these incidents have been linked to aging or structurally compromised buildings.
Solidarity Minister Nevine El-Qabbaj announced the allocation of EGP 60,000 to the families of deceased individuals through both the ministry and Nasser Bank, the ministry said on Wednesday.
