Egypt s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly
The decision applies to ministries, governmental bodies, public facilities, municipal units, public enterprises, and public business sector companies, according to a decree issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday.
Students in universities and schools will also be given a day off to celebrate the occasion.
The same decision is expected for private sector employees.
The victory's anniversary falls this year on next Friday. However, it was pushed one day forward based on a 2020 government decision to designate Thursday as a day off whenever a public holiday falls outside the working week. The decision gives citizens a chance to have a long weekend.
This year, Egypt will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its victory against Israel under the leadership of late President Anwar El-Sadat.
