“Internet service was impacted in some areas nationwide as a result of a technical malfunction that affected one of the main network devices,” WE said in a statement on Tuesday.
However, it assured that the fault has been repaired and the service will be fully restored in the coming hours, according to the statement.
Many internet users in different areas across the country have complained about service disruptions over the past few hours.
Egypt’s Public Prosecutor's Office announced on Tuesday evening the disruption of its digital services provided to citizens due to internet issues.
Among the services disrupted are those presented by the traffic prosecution services including traffic tickets as well as the official documents related to social status and family prosecutions.
The statement emphasized that the provision of these services will resume as soon as the company completes the repair.
Telecom Egypt is the largest internet provider of fixed-line services in the Middle East and Africa.
In August 2023, Egypt had 11.7 million ADSL subscriptions, 2 million USB Modem users, and 69.7 mobile internet users, according to the figures of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
