The North Coast governorates of Alexandria and Matrouh, along with Beheira, Kafr El-Sheikh, and Dakahlia in the Nile Delta, are bracing for heavy thunderous rain and even possible snowfall until at least Wednesday, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

These weather conditions may persist on Thursday in the same areas, as well as in North Sinai, Port Said, and Damietta.

Meanwhile, Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia expect some scattered rain, especially on Tuesday, while moderate rain is likely to fall in North and Central Sinai, Damietta, Port Said, Gharbia, Sharqiya, Menoufia, and the Gulf of Suez.

If you had plans for a fun sail in the Mediterranean, you may want to reconsider it as strong winds are expected to create waves as high as 3-4 metres, according to the EMA.

Cold days and extremely cold nights are expected for most parts of the country, except for South Sinai and southern Egypt, where weather will be a bit warmer during the daytime.

In Central Sinai and the New Valley governorate, temperatures can be so frigid that frost may form in agricultural areas.

Thursday will be the peak of cold weather this week, with highs of 16 and lows of nine in Cairo, and highs of 15 and lows of 10 on the North Coast.

Heading northeast to Sharm El-Sheikh and Dahab in South Sinai, the weather will record highs of 20 and lows of 11.

In southern Upper Egypt, encompassing the stunning cities of Aswan and Luxor, temperatures will reach highs of 19 and lows of 9 on Thursday. In northern Upper Egypt, home to Beni Suef and Fayoum, expect highs of 16 and lows of five.

Remember to maintain safe distances while driving in the rain, bundle up in warm clothes, and enjoy staying indoors, where it is cozy and dry.
