The incident resulted in at least three casualties, according to the preliminary tally released by the Ministry of Health and Population.

The ministry indicated that 10 ambulances along with rescue teams rushed to the scene, transporting four injured individuals, who suffered from drowning-induced asphyxiation symptoms, to the hospital. Three of them were later safely released from the hospital after receiving the required medical care.

The search for the other missing individuals is still ongoing. Ambulances are on standby, while hospitals in the area are alert until the search concludes, the ministry added.

Media reports indicate that from 10 to 15 individuals were on board the ferry.

The security directorate of Giza had received a report earlier about a small boat sinking, used as a ferry to transport individuals, at 7:00 am.
