A snap shot of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi During his speech on the Labour Day ceremony at Haier Egypt complex in the 10th of Ramadan city on Thursday 2 May, 2024.
During his speech, El-Sisi stated that he directed the Supreme Council for Social Dialogue on Labour to hold more dialogue sessions among government, employers, and workers — the three work constituents.
He noted that these sessions aim to discuss various work-related issues and legislations to ensure the law achieves the desired balance in work relations and effectively protects workers’ rights.
In addition, the president instructed the Supreme Council for Social Dialogue to conclude its discussions on the draft labour law and called on the House of Representatives to swiftly discuss it as early as possible.
He also directed officials to increase the value of the minimum allowance paid by the Emergency Assistance Fund for Workers from EGP 600 to EGP 1,500 for each worker.
The president also instructed the Ministry of Manpower to boost its role in enhancing human resources and skills to meet the labour market needs, domestically and internationally, and upgrade the vocational training system to generate skilled Egyptian workers.
El-Sisi also directed the ministry to develop a comprehensive national strategy to promote occupational safety and health culture, ensure compliance with its requirements, and provide a safe work environment for employers and workers.
Furthermore, he ordered the establishment of a training centre that caters to the training needs of job seekers in the labour market, according to international standards, and proactively identifies emerging jobs and their associated skill requirements.
Additionally, he urged increasing employment rates among people of determination and women, empowering them economically.
The president also directed them to achieve legal protection for workers through enhancing follow-up on facilities subject to labour law to ensure law application, especially on the minimum wage.
During the ceremony, El-Sisi honoured several senior syndicate members and Egyptian labourers.
Then, he made an inspection tour at the Haier industrial complex in the 10th of Ramadan City.
