According to Reuters, the decision comes under an agreement between Egypt and Greece signed in November 2022 to tackle the worker shortage in the Greek agricultural sector.

The Greek minister stated that the two countries discussed expanding the agreement to include the construction and tourism sectors.

Minister of Migration and Asylum Dimitris Kairidis visited Cairo last week.
