The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) expects weather to be hotter in South Sinai and Upper Egypt, with temperatures reaching over 42 degrees Celsius.

However, the North Coast will see cooler weather, it added.

The EMA advised citizens to avoid direct exposure to sunlight during this heatwave, which started on Friday 31 May.

It also urged those who have to be outdoors to stay well-hydrated throughout the day and not to leave flammable materials inside their vehicles.

Cairo and the Nile Delta will see highs of 37-40 degrees and lows of 24-26 degrees from Monday till next Friday, according to the EMA.

South Sinai will experience highs of 40-42 degrees and lows of 29-30 degrees, while the North Coast should expect highs of 31-34 degrees with lows of 21-23 degrees.

Northern Upper Egypt governorates — Fayoum, Beni Suef, and Minya — will see highs of 40-42 degrees in the morning and lows of 25-27 degrees at night.

Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea governorates in southern Upper Egypt will experience highs of 44-45 degrees and lows of 29-30 degrees.
