Heatwave hits Egypt on Thursday and Friday

A heatwave is expected across Egypt on Thursday and Friday, followed by a nationwide temperature drop of three to four degrees, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).

According to the EMA, a light water mist will descend on high roads on Thursday and Friday, due to their proximity to water bodies, with windy weather expected nationwide.

Higher temperatures on Thursday and Friday are predicted to reach 46 degrees in Upper Egypt and 41 degrees in Cairo, with lows of 31 and 28 degrees, respectively.

Starting Saturday, daytime temperatures in Cairo and Lower Egypt will rise to 36 degrees, dropping to 23 degrees at night.

South Sinai will see higher daytime temperatures of 40 degrees and nighttime lows of 27 degrees.

Visitors to the North Coast should expect cooler highs of 30 degrees and lows of 20 degrees.

In Northern Upper Egypt, daytime temperatures will reach 40 degrees, with nighttime lows of 22 degrees.

Southern Upper Egypt will remain hot throughout the week, with highs of 45 degrees and lows of 30 degrees.

The summer season officially begins on Friday, 21 June.
