Egypt population reaches 106,45 mln in June 2024: CAPMAS

The Egyptian population has reached 106,447,654 million as of Saturday 22 June 2024, marking an increase of 126,000 people since 11 May, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said.

This marks a population growth rate of approximately 3,000 births per day, translating to around 125 births per hour or two births every minute, CAPMAS added in its statement.

Egypt's population reached 105 million on 3 June 2023, according to CAPMAS.

According to official statements, the population growth rate in Egypt declined by 46 percent from 2017 to 2023.

In 2023, the population growth rate in Egypt declined by 1.4 percent, the lowest in the last 50 years, compared to the 2.6 percent recorded in 2017, the minister said, citing a report issued by the National Project for Egyptian Family Development (NPEFD).

According to the report, the birth rate in Egypt reached two million in 2023, a decline of 15 percent compared to 2018 and 7 percent compared to 2022.

The population clock also highlighted the 10 most populous governorates in Egypt with Cairo remaining the highest, with a population of 10,334,558.

Giza follows in second place with 9,626,349 residents, while Sharqia ranks third with a population of 8,005,334, followed by Dakahlia, Beheira, Minya, Sohag, Qalyoubia, Alexandria, and Gharbia.
