The surge in heat will push many regions in Egypt, including Cairo, beyond the 40 degrees Celsius mark in terms of real-feel temperatures during the daytime.

Even the North Coast, renowned for its pleasant summer weather, will experience heat levels beyond normal, with temperatures of 37 degrees during the day as the week progresses.

While Tuesday's apparent temperature in Cairo is tolerable at 37 degrees, brace yourself for a rise to 40-41 degrees until next Sunday.

Summer is in full swing, and holidaymakers have flocked to Alexandria, Matrouh, and the North Coast villages.

However, the real-feel temperature on the North Coast will gradually increase from the current 35 degrees during the day to 36-37 degrees by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, the captivating South Sinai, home to Sharm El-Sheikh, will endure real-feel temperatures of 44-45 degrees by the week's end.

In southern Upper Egypt, where the antiquities-rich Luxor and the enchanting Aswan are located, real-feel temperatures are expected to hover around 44-45 degrees throughout the coming week.

Heading to the northern parts of Upper Egypt, including Fayoum and Minya, the apparent temperatures will be slightly more bearable but are unlikely to drop below 41 degrees.

The scorching heat gripping Egypt this summer has led to extended power outages.

However, the government has announced a $1.18 billion plan to import more fuel to halt power cuts throughout the summer months.

This sizzling heat also tests the resilience of over 745,000 Thanaweya Amma (national high school system) students, who are studying and taking crucial exams this year under these challenging conditions.

Luckily, those students will wrap up their exams by 17-20 July.

To avoid heat stress and sometimes life-threatening heatstroke in these sweltering conditions, stay hydrated, wear lightweight and light-coloured clothing, avoid direct sun exposure, and enjoy refreshing cold showers.
