Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat highlighted the platform's importance in enriching Egypt's cultural heritage and strengthening its cultural leadership, ultimately enhancing its soft power.
The move follows a three-year cooperation protocol signed between MCIT and the Egyptian National Library and Archives, the country’s largest library.
The protocol is a crucial first step in collaboration on documentation, training, and making cultural content widely accessible electronically, according to Talaat.
For his side, Minister of Culture Ahmed Hanno mentioned the upcoming advancements in digital platforms, including efforts with MCIT to provide affordable access to works by renowned authors, while protecting their intellectual property rights.
Talaat and Hanno discussed ways of digitizing the content of various departments within the Ministry of Culture, including The National Library and Archives, The General Egyptian Book Organization (GEBO), The Cairo Opera House, The Academy of Arts, and The Fine Arts Sector.
Egypt has been rapidly advancing to achieve digital transformation across all government services, in light of Egypt Vision 2030.
The country has significantly increased allocations in its budget for the information and communication technology (ICT) sector in recent years.
