The international event is scheduled to take place from 1-8 September.
The AASTMT aims to be a leading science institution in Egypt and the Arab region, driving sustainable development by fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship to empower future generations as catalysts for change.
The IOI, hosted in Cairo in 2008, is an annual global competition where exceptional preparatory and secondary students from various countries compete to demonstrate and enhance their algorithmic, problem-solving, and programming skills.
Students are selected for the IOI through national competitions like the Egyptian Olympiad in Informatics (EOI), organized annually by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and AASTMT.
Such competitions are key platforms where teams are trained and qualified to represent Egypt at the IOI.
Each country is represented by a team of four students and two supervisors.
Over two days, students solve algorithmic challenges striving to achieve high scores and earn medals for their countries.
The remaining days of the IOI are dedicated to cultural and recreational activities designed to recognize students talented in informatics, promote discipline among young people, foster international relationships, and nurture the next generation of software and IT experts.
The IOI is being supported by UNESCO and the International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP).
Furthermore, it facilitated the identification of exceptional Egyptian talents, with numerous outstanding students discovered nationwide from 2003 to 2023.
Egypt has secured an impressive total of 31 IOI medals, including six silver and 25 bronze.
