“On this day, the men and leaders of the Egyptian armed forces wrote the most wonderful epics of sacrifice to restore the immaculate land of Sinai. They set a great example, backed by the support of a greater people, in steadfastness and achieving victory," El-Sisi said.
The Egyptian president added: This proved that the cohesion between the Egyptian people and the armed forces is the impregnable fortress that protects the Egyptian State throughout its history.”
On Saturday, El-Sisi laid wreaths at the Unknown Soldier Memorial in Nasr City and the tombs of former presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Gamal Abdel-Nasser.
In his speech at Thursday's graduation of the class of 2024 at the Egyptian Military Academy, President El-Sisi said this year's celebration of the glorious 6 October victory occurs at a crucial moment in the region's history, amid escalating and bloody events in the region.
Furthermore, El-Sisi conveyed his profound appreciation for the Egyptian Armed Forces, commending their steadfast dedication to protecting the nation and honouring the sacrifices of fallen soldiers and their families.
This year, Egypt commemorates the 51st anniversary of its victory over Israel under the leadership of the late President El-Sadat.
The sixth of October, which falls on a Sunday this year, is designated as a paid holiday in Egypt.
