Egyptian engineer honoured for third-best global energy invention at South Korea expo

Egyptian Engineer Mostafa El-Sayed won the bronze medal for the third-best invention globally in the field of energy at the International Exhibition of Inventions, held in South Korea from 6 to 8 November.

El-Sayed, who invented a unit to generate kinetic and electrical energy using light energy, was honoured in Egypt on Sunday by Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

According to the Ministry of Higher Education, the unit El-Sayed designed represents an innovative solution in renewable energy. It is particularly suited for use in remote areas where direct electricity supply is challenging.

Ashour expressed his happiness with this achievement, noting that it reflects the outstanding efforts of Egyptian innovators in scientific research and modern technology.

He emphasized that El-Sayed's win represents a culmination of his creativity and continuous efforts to develop innovative solutions that advance modern technology and elevate Egypt's global standing in the energy sector.

In addition, Ashour reaffirmed that the ministry's commitment to honouring innovators and creators embodies the Egyptian state's support for those who have successfully represented Egypt in international forums.

The ceremony that the Ministry of Higher Education held to honour El-Sayed saw discussions about mechanisms through which the ministry could support the implementation of El-Sayed's project as part of Egypt's efforts to achieve sustainable development.

Egypt is actively advancing its renewable energy strategy to increase renewable energy's share in its national energy mix to 42 percent by 2030 and 60 percent by 2040.
