The president was received at the mosque by Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Sheikh Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Defense and Military Production Abdel Mageed Saqr, and Minister of Endowments Osama Al-Azhary.
Other ministers and state officials attended the Eid prayer, with whom President El-Sisi exchanged greetings on this blessed occasion.

Earlier Friday, the president extended Eid greetings to the Egyptian people and Arab and Islamic nations.
"I extend my sincerest greetings and best wishes to the great Egyptian people as well as the Arab and Islamic nations on the blessed occasion of Eid Al-Adha," El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page.

The president wished them a blessed and prosperous Eid.
"I pray to Allah the Almighty to bestow goodness, prosperity and blessings upon us all and preserve our precious homeland Egypt," he added.
El-Sisi added, "May it be eternally blessed with advancement, prosperity, security, and stability. May you have a blessed and prosperous Eid."


Eid Al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is one of the most significant holidays in the Islamic calendar.
It coincides with the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage and commemorates Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham)'s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God.
