The Ministry’s ICT Indicators in Brief report revealed that Egypt had 90.3 million active mobile internet users in April 2025—including both voice-and-data and data-only subscriptions—up from 81.8 million in 2024.

Egypt also recorded 11.96 million active fixed broadband (ADSL) subscriptions in April, up from 11.10 million the previous year, reflecting an annual growth rate of 7.79 percent.

The report noted that fixed telephone line subscriptions rose to 13.4 million in April 2025, up from 12.6 million in April 2024—an annual growth rate of 5.9 percent.

A massive fire at the Ramses Central Exchange—one of Egypt’s key telecommunications and digital infrastructure hubs—disrupted life across Cairo and Giza last week, affecting daily routines for the 20 million residents of both governorates.

The fire disrupted electronic payment systems and money transfers, affected hotline services—including the main emergency medical line—and interfered with railway booking systems, ATM operations, and air traffic at Cairo International Airport.

On Saturday, under directives from the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA), telecommunications companies in Egypt began compensating customers for service disruptions caused by the fire.

According to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), Egypt’s total domestic population has reached 107.8 million.
