In a post on his official Facebook page, the president said that Al-Ahram has produced generations of distinguished journalists.
"Since its establishment, it has embraced prominent intellectual, literary, and scientific figures and has produced generations of prominent journalists," El-Sisi wrote on Facebook.
The president said that Al-Ahram has contributed significantly to shaping awareness, spreading knowledge, and clarifying visions.
"As a result, it has earned a unique legacy of appreciation and pride for its balanced journalistic role at both the Egyptian and Arab levels," El-Sisi noted.
"Our congratulations to the Al-Ahram organisation and all its affiliates - journalists, administrators, workers, and readers," the president said.
In October 2023, El-Sisi wrote for Al-Ahram, celebrating the release of its 50,000th issue.
Founded in 1875 in Alexandria by Lebanese brothers Saleem and Beshara Takla.
Al-Ahram is Egypt’s second-oldest newspaper after Al-Waqai Al-Misriya newspaper, which was established in 1828 to serve as the official gazette at the time.
Al-Ahram, initially a weekly publication, became a daily newspaper in 1881.
It later moved to Cairo and eventually became a state-owned institution.
Over 150 years, it has played a major role in shaping public opinion and documenting Egypt’s political, cultural, and social history.
Al-Ahram has brought together veteran writers, authors, and thinkers from diverse political and intellectual backgrounds.
It includes many daily, weekly, and monthly publications, including English-language Ahram Online and Al-Ahram Weekly and French-language Al-Ahram Hebdo.
