“On the occasion of celebrating Prophet Muhammad's birthday, I extend my greetings to the Egyptian people and to the Arab and Islamic nations,” President El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page.

The president prayed to Allah that the occasion would bring goodness, prosperity, and blessings to Egypt.

“I ask Allah the Almighty to bless Egypt with security and safety and to grant us the ability to follow the example of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in mercy, love, and peace,” El-Sisi added.

On Wednesday, El-Sisi attended a ceremony marking the 15th centenary of Moulid El-Nabi at the Manara International Conference Centre in Cairo.

Moulid El-Nabi, observed each year on 12 Rabi‘ Al-Awwal — the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar — falls this year on 4 September in the Gregorian calendar.

Muslims worldwide, including in Egypt, commemorate the Prophet’s birthday with prayers, religious gatherings, and cultural traditions.

In Egypt, celebrations often include colourful displays at sweet shops and bakeries, where traditional confections shaped like horses and dolls are enjoyed to mark the occasion.
