Google has partnered with Egypt’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to give university students free access to its advanced artificial intelligence tools for 12 months.

The initiative, announced at the start of the new academic year, offers students complimentary access to the Google Gemini Pro Plan, including the new Guided Learning feature, which is available in both Arabic and English.

The programme, unveiled on Sunday, will also be rolled out in Saudi Arabia in cooperation with the International Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Ethics (ICAIRE).

In both countries, students aged 18 and above can register before 3 November 2025 to secure a one-year plan.

The package includes unlimited image uploads with Gemini 2.5 Pro, access to Deep Research for tailored reports, NotebookLM as a digital study companion, Veo 3 for creating short videos, and two terabytes of cloud storage across Google Photos, Drive, and Gmail.

Google said the goal is not just to provide quick answers, but to improve comprehension and strengthen critical thinking.

Guided Learning, developed with input from students, educators, and researchers, walks users step by step through complex problems, structuring essays, solving math questions, preparing for exams, and testing knowledge with interactive quizzes and multimedia responses.

Teachers will also be able to share the tools directly with students, making integration into the classroom easier.

The company stressed that working with national partners in Egypt and Saudi Arabia is key to ensuring wide adoption of the new features.

Officials added that this is the first stage of a broader regional rollout, highlighting the belief that free access to advanced AI, paired with training, will help students reach their academic potential.

Google Gemini is the company’s family of next-generation AI models, first launched in late 2023 and since expanded into a suite of multimodal tools.

Unlike earlier systems, Gemini can process and generate not only text but also images, audio, code, and video.

The most advanced version, Gemini 2.5 Pro, powers services across Google’s ecosystem, including Search and Workspace apps.

The initiative in Egypt and Saudi Arabia marks the first time students in the region will have free, year-long access to the full system.
