Egypt is set to experience a spell of unstable weather on Friday, marked by strong winds, varying rainfall, and a noticeable drop in temperatures, the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned.

In a statement, the EMA said moderate to heavy rain, possibly accompanied by thunderstorms, is expected along the northern coasts, including Matrouh and Alexandria. Some areas, including central Sinai, may witness heavy downpours.

Light to moderate rain is forecast for parts of the northern Nile Delta, while light showers may extend intermittently to the southern Delta and Greater Cairo.

The EMA cautioned that strong winds are expected across most regions, potentially stirring up sand and dust in exposed areas and reducing horizontal visibility.

The authority also warned of disrupted maritime navigation in the Mediterranean Sea, where wind speeds could reach 50–70 km/h and wave heights range between 3.5 and 5.5 metres.

Similar conditions are also expected in the Red Sea, with winds of 40–70 km/h and waves reaching up to 4 metres.
