Two Egyptian political parties – the socialist Tagamoa Party and the liberal Conference Party – have announced they will jointly back ex-army chief Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi's presidential bid
In a press conference on Sunday, head of the Conference (Moatamar) Party Mohamed El-Orabi said both groups will coordinate and launch pro-Sisi campaigns in parallel, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.
El-Orabi said that more details on the alliance and the campaign will be revealed at a press conference on Monday in the Nile Delta governorate of Beheira.
The Conference Party was founded in 2012 by Amr Moussa – former presidential candidate and foreign minister under toppled leader Hosni Mubarak.
The Tagamoa Party was one of a handful of Egyptian political parties allowed to operate under Mubarak.
