Egypt's Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy met on Sunday with representatives of the country's two presidential candidates to give them the ministry's memo on Egypt's foreign policy since 30 June.

The memo contained the main directions of the foreign ministry since 30 June, the date of mass protests that led to the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July. The document also included the ministry's achievements and the steps it has taken to return Egypt to its strategic role at the African and Arab levels.

Further points were a vision of Egypt's foreign policy in the next period as well as possible ways to deal with some current issues, especially those directly related to Egyptian national security.

Fahmy met with the campaign advisor for foreign affairs and the campaign media media coordinator for candidates Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Hamdeen Sabahi, respectively.

Fahmy's meeting with both candidates at the same time is aimed to give them equal time to draft their electoral plans for Egypt's foreign politics.

El-Sisi and Sabahi are Egypt's sole presidential candidates. The presidential elections are expected to take place on 26-27 May. Egyptian expats are scheduled to vote in Egyptian embassies and consulates worldwide without prior registration from 15 to 18 May.
