Six policemen injured in militant attack in Egypt's Al-Arish

Two policemen in critical condition from gunshot wounds after militants open fire at a police vehicle in North Sinai

Unknown gunmen opened fire on a police vehicle in the North Sinai border town of Al-Arish on Wednesday, leaving six policemen injured, a security source in North Sinai confirmed to Al-Ahram's Arabic news website.

The injured policemen were transferred to hospital. Ahmed Yehia Abdel-Aziz, 30, suffered gunshots to the stomach and both legs, and Eid Abdel-Aziz, 35, suffered gunshots to both legs. Both are in critical condition.

The four others suffered minor injuries but were not shot.

Militant attacks have killed 496 people in Egypt since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi in July, an official report stated.
