Ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak
General Prosecutor Mustafa Suleiman is set to summon ousted president Hosni Mubarak on 28 April to resume questioning over charges of financial corruption and ordering the killing of peaceful protesters.
Upon his arrest on 13 April Mubarak was questioned for only half an hour at the International Sharm El-Sheikh hospital. He was asked to state his name, age and occupation for the record.
The 82 year-old’s questioning was halted a while later as a result of his deteriorating health condition.
Following Mubarak's ouster on 11 February the ex-commander in chief, along with his family, was put under house arrest in his luxurious residence in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El-Sheikh.
On 13 April, Mubarak was remanded to custody for 15 days pending further investigations. His detention might be extended for further investigations.
Reportedly, his health condition took a turn for the worse after the decision to arrest him was made and even further when both of his two sons, Gamal and Alaa, were also remanded for 15 days and transferred to Tora Prison near Cairo, where they joined a large number of former top Mubarak regime officials.
