A fire erupted at Giza Zoo on Wednesday afternoon beside the sea lion and chimpanzee houses.
No animals were harmed in the blaze. However, several rare palm trees and plants were destroyed.
Six fire trucks arrived and put out the fire.
Opened in 1891, Giza Zoo is Egypt's biggest and oldest zoological garden, containing a wide variety of animals and rare plants and trees from all over the world.
