Egypt's interim president Adly Mansour praised the presidential election held earlier this week, stating that it was further proof of how the Egyptian people supported the transitional road map adopted in July 2013, presidential spokesman Ehab Badawy said in a statement on Thursday.
Preliminary results of the election saw 25 million Egyptians cast their ballots, the statement said, adding that the election is considered the seventh since the 25 January 2011 revolution.
Mansour, who is committed to finishing his term by the end of May, also remarked on Egyptians' dedication to peaceful transition following the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi last July, the statement said.
The interim president also praised how the Egyptian state and its institutions, especially the police and army, "were committed to neutrality during the presidential race."
Early preliminary results of Egyptian presidential elections showed a massive victory for former defence minister Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi with nearly 96 percent of the votes.
Next week will see the official announcement of results from the Presidential Elections Commission (PEC) and El-Sisi's swearing-in ceremony.
