Unidentified assailants fired a rocket-propelled grenade at a police installation early on Tuesday in the restive Sinai Peninsula, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.
Residents of Al-Arish border city in the North Sinai Governorate heard an explosion as gunmen attacked the Civil Security building in Al-Zouhour district. No injuries were reported. The building sustained damages including smashed glass façades.
Attacks against security forces and installations have become frequent since the ouster of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in July of last year. The town of Al-Arish – bordering Israel and the Palestinian Gaza Strip – witnesses the fiercest encounters between Islamist militants and counter-insurgency forces.
