A man was reportedly killed when he inspected a strange object

An improvised explosive device killed one person and wounded another in 6 October city on the outskirts of Cairo on Saturday, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic website.

Two brothers were  guarding a piece of land, according to Al-Ahram, when one of them found a strange object which exploded as he was inspecting it.

Improvised explosions have become frequent since violence escalated between security forces and supporters of Islamist president Mohamed Morsi, following the violent dispersal of two pro-Morsi protest camps last August which left around a thousand people dead.

Militant attacks targeting security forces since the ouster of Morsi have killed more than 500 police and soldiers.
