The Coptic Orthodox Church has condemned Israel’s air offensive against the Gaza Strip which has killed over a hundred Palestinians since it began on 8 July.

In a statement on Saturday, the church expressed its solidarity with the Palestinian people and called on the United Nations to work on immediately bringing an end to violence.

More than 125 people have been killed since Tuesday when Israel launched ‘Operation Protective Edge’ against the besieged Palestinian strip.

Palestinian officials say more than 135 people have been killed in the offensive, and more than 950 injured.
