Prosecutors of the Illicit Gains Authority today resmed the questioning of Safwat El-Sherif, the once omnipotent secretary-general of Mubarak's ruling National Democratic Party, on charges of corruption.

El-Sherif is accused of taking egregious advantage of his former position to expand his personal wealth.

According to sources, El-Sherif was transported amid tight security from Tora prison, where he is being held along with a host of former regime henchmen, to the the officies of the Illicit Gains Authority, whill will also decide whether to extend El-Sherif’s detention or order his release.
