The first casualty among wounded Palestinians being treated in Egypt, a middle-aged Palestinian man, died in an Egyptian hospital on Sunday, state news agency MENA said.
Ragaey Hammad, 38, succumbed to his injuries – which included shrapnel wounds in the brain – one day after he was admitted to a hospital in the North Sinai town of Al-Arish.
More than 500 Palestinians and 18 Israelis have been killed since Israel launched its military offensive on Gaza on 8 July.
Egypt has intermittently opened its Rafah border crossing with Gaza, usually closed for security concerns, to allow the entry of wounded Palestinians.
