Egypt's Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has extended the official holiday period for Eid Al-Fitr by an extra day, with the vacation now from Monday to Thursday of next week, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.
Mahlab said all those working in governmental institutions will take four days off -- instead of three, as originally planned.
Eid Al-Fitr, which falls on 28 July this year, marks the end of the month of Ramadan, when Muslims worldwide fast from dawn to sunset.
