President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi travelled early Sunday to Saudi Arabia for his first official visit to the country; Aswat Masriya reported.

El-Sisi will meet King Abdullah in Jeddah for talks that will include the latest developments in the region and bilateral relations between the two countries, Egypt's ambassador to the kingdom, Afifi Abdel-Wahab, told Al-Ahram Arabic news website.

King Abdullah paid a short visit of only a few hours to Egypt in June, where he was met in his airplane by El-Sisi.

Saudi Arabia has been one of the major regional and international supporters of Egypt, both financially and politically, since the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi last summer.

The oil rich Gulf kingdom called for a donor's conference to aid Egypt financially shortly after El-Sisi won the presidential election in May. The donor's conference is expected to be held by the end of this year.
