Egypt's cabinet approved a draft law by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi concerning genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity in its meeting Wednesday, state news agency MENA said.
The approval comes after amending article 33 of the law which specifies at least one judicial circuit from Cairo's criminal court to look into cases of these charges to ensure swift procedures.
In military courts, at least one judicial circuit of the military criminal court will also be specified for genocide and war crimes.
Legislative power remains in the hands of El-Sisi until an elected parliament is sworn in. Parliamentary elections are expected by the end of this year.
