Former health minister Mamdouh Gabr dies at 87

Mamdouh Gabr was Egypt's health minister for 4 years during former president Hosni Mubarak's rule

The 87-year-old former Minister of Health, Mamdouh Gabr, passed away early Tuesday, Al-Ahram's Arabic news website reported.

Gabr had served as health minister for four years under the rule of former president Hosni Mubarak from 1978 to 1982.

Gabr also served as a secretary-general of the Red Crescent Society, and director of the Children's Hospital at Cairo University.

He also served as the head of the doctor`s syndicate as well as a parliamentarian during the Mubarak era.
