Al-Ahram's Khaled El-Sergany dies at 54

El-Sergany joined Al-Ahram establishment in the 1980s, but also contributed to Al-Masry Al-Youm and Al-Gomhoreya newspapers

Al-Ahram daily newspaper deputy editor-in-chief Khaled El-Sergany died Saturday from a heart attack.

El-Sergany, 54, was rushed to the Aviation Hospital early Saturday in New Cairo, but doctors couldn’t revive him. He died one day after his wedding, held late Friday.

The funeral will take place in his hometown in Port Said governorate.

El-Sergany joined Al-Ahram establishment in the 1980s, but also contributed to a number of other publications, including Al-Masry Al-Youm and Al-Gomhoreya newspapers.

El-Sergany was chosen as a spokesman for Cairo’s International Film Festival this year. He was also a member of the Culture and Arts Committee of the Supreme Council of Culture.
