The Arab League said Thursday that its chief will meet the US Secretary of State, John Kerry on Saturday in the Egyptian capital, state news agency MENA reported.
The meeting between Nabil El-Arabi and Kerry will take place in a hotel near the Cairo International Airport, the agency said.
A US delegation landed in Cairo on Thursday to lay the groundwork for Kerry's visit.
An informed source in the Arab League told MENA that the meeting will aim to brief El-Arabi of the results of the regional conference held in the Saudi capital Jeddah over counterterrorism issues.
Kerry attended the conference along with foreign ministers of Egypt, Turkey, Jordan and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which comprises Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Oman and Qatar.
Kerry kicked off his trip to the Middle East on Tuesday to launch a diplomatic campaign to build a coalition against the extremist Islamic State group, the increasingly powerful militant group which claims control over large parts of Syria and Iraq.
